Heavy Structures Testing Laboratory

Loading frames of the heavy structures testing laboratory

The Heavy Structures Testing Laboratory is equipped for civil and structural testing capability with emphasis on understanding the process of building construction and surveying. Besides traditional concrete mixing, compression testing, destructive and non-destructive testing and temperature and humidity control concrete curing setup, this laboratory is also equipped with material and large scale structural testing facilities. In the area of material science, electronic microscope, infrared spectrometer and image processing are used for microstructure analysis in which concrete aging and composition can be detected. For large scale testing, three testing frames of 100-ton capacity are equipped for orientating horizontal and vertical specimen in which structural members and design can be studied.
